We were building a bridge for our backyard critter course. A real, working bridge over the stream by the big oak tree. I had a plan. Wood planks, tied with vines, anchored with rocks. I was sure it would work. Brooklyn, Teddy, and Olivff offered other ideas—lighter materials, wider footing, maybe even a pulley system. But I shook my head.'Nope. My way’s better.' I tied the vines. Stacked the rocks. Walked proudly across… And splash! I fell right into the stream. Cold. Wet. Embarrassed.""Teddy helped me out. Brooklyn handed me a towel. Olivff quietly handed me her sketched blueprint. And that’s when it clicked: My friends weren’t trying to take over. They were trying to help. I had been too stubborn to see it. So we started again—together this time. Their ideas made the bridge stronger, safer, and way more fun. That’s when I realized: Stubbornness doesn’t mean strength—it sometimes blocks the best answers.
